Former The Masked Singer star Omarion took a funny approach to the internet’s recent confusion over his name. Some on social media have been making jokes comparing the singer to the Covid-19 Omicron variant. The B2K singer responded to the comparison in a series of three TikTok videos.

Omarion Makes It Clear That He’s Not the Omicron Variant

“Hi everybody, this is Omarion,” the singer says in the first clip. “I am an artist, not a variant. So please be aware, if you just so happen to run into me on the street, you don’t have to isolate for five days, nor do you have to have a negative test result in order to dance to my music.”

In another video, he shares a similar message while his song “Touch” plays in the background. He encourages his followers to “stay safe” and “be good to one another” in the new year.

In the final clip, Omarion reads from a document, saying his lawyers asked him to share it with everyone. He makes it clear that he’s a “musician and an entertainer, not a viral variant.” The singer says he’s “been getting a lot of DMs” about the confusion, and asked people not to “be disrespectful.”

Omarion also appeared on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve over the weekend to share his message, joking that “the last time I had to do this was in 2000 when everyone confused Y2K with B2K.”

Remember Him as Yeti on ‘The Masked Singer’?

Earlier this year, Omarion appeared on The Masked Singer Season 5 as Yeti. His performances included “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco and “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. He was also famously rollerbladed on stage. Unfortunately, Yeti only made it to fourth place before he was unmasked.

Omarion told Entertainment Weekly that his favorite part of being on the show was “the not knowing.” He added, “It was kind of like karaoke on steroids. I enjoyed just the challenge of not knowing, for that little short period of time, even though it was stressful.”
