The Voice UK is a popular show…but not as popular as it once was. That’s also true of rival show The X Factor. So, to shake things up their parent network ITV is changing the format of the show…by drastically cutting back the number of episodes.
Last year there were 8 live episodes and and three weeks of live finals. But not this year. They will do two live knockout shows and then the semifinals and the finals. So, they’ve cut the number of episodes in half. While it’s true that in the UK seasons are shorter than they are here, it can’t be good news that they’ve reduced the run of the season by that much.
ITV says that they are doing it to streamline the show and keep people interested in the good stuff and getting to the finals sooner. But I don’t know. If I was Olly Mur I would update my resume.
