The Masked Singer panelist Nicole Scherzinger was recently a guest on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show, where she opened up about making new music and reacted to the recently resurfaced video of her creating One Direction on The X Factor.
Nicole Scherzinger Teases ‘Very Personal’ New Music
Scherzinger told Shepherd that she was recently in London over the summer “working on new music.” She acknowledged that “it’s been a strong minute since I’ve come out with music.”
“It’s great to finally have the confidence … to realize your own voice, and to not be afraid to use it, through music,” Scherzinger said of her experience working on the new songs. “It’s very personal, It’s very real, so y’all better watch out.”
The Pussycat Dolls singer added, “My superpowers, I think, lie on the stage. So I’m writing a lot of things thinking live performances.” She shared that she’s making “some really empowering music,” sharing that it’s something she’s needed.
Scherzinger joked that she “never had the balls to really say what I really wanted.” Since her last solo album was 2014’s Big Fat Lie, we’re looking forward to hearing what she has to offer.

She Reacts to Resurfaced One Direction Video
In July, an old video was released from The X Factor which showed how instrumental Scherzinger was in the creation of the boy band One Direction, even thought Simon Cowell has taken credit for it over the years. Shepherd brought this up with Scherzinger during their conversation.
“I never thought this footage would see the light of day. I thought Simon burned it,” Scherzinger said. “And it’s really cool that it came out, because what people are actually seeing is me, like, actually putting them together.”
She added that she’s “super proud” that she was involved in the group’s creation, joking that she’s “still waiting on that commission.” As Shepherd said, “Simon Cowell, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.”
The interview ended with Scherzinger surprising Shepherd with the mask she wore as Penguin in Season 2 of The Masked Singer. The show returns Wednesday night at 8/7c on FOX.
