Nick Jonas Teases New Jonas Brothers Album
The Jonas Brothers’ sixth studio album, titled The Album, is set to be released May 5. The group has already teased one of the songs off the project, called “Wings.” Nick Jonas said they were influenced by “music our dad raised us on.”
“It’s kind of that mesh of the ’70s and early ’80s, but with a really modern twist,” Jonas explained. “And just songs that are incredibly personal to us. We’re all at different points in our lives … speaking about our relationships and our journey, but also singing about things that in 15, 20 years, we’re still gonna be happy to be singing.”
Jonas added that, although the group hasn’t made an official announcement yet, they’re planning to go on tour later this year. But first, the brothers have a few shows lined up in Las Vegas later this month.
During his appearance on Today, Jonas shared that he’s starring in a new Super Bowl commercial for Dexcom, a continuous glucose monitor that he wears. The singer was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 13 years old.
“I think back to my 13-year-old self, newly diagnosed, not really having someone that I knew in the public eye that was living with this disease,” Jonas shared, adding that Dexcom and his nonprofit Beyond Type 1 are committing $1 million “to access and programs to continue the conversation around health equity.”
As for the Super Bowl, Jonas said he’ll “be out there watching the game.” The singer called himself “a die-hard Giants fan,” but he has friends playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, so he’ll be rooting for them.
