The Nick Cannon Show won’t be renewed for a second season. The syndicated talk show was originally set for the 2020 season but did not premiere until 2021. Nick Cannon’s anti-semitic comments first delayed the premiere of his show, but it never performed well in the ratings. The news comes as it was just reported that re-runs of Cannon’s daytime talk show would be distributed by Vh1.

Cannon has one less show on air with the recent cancellation. Today’s two episode taping will be the last for the entertainer and his crew. Fans of the show will still have enough episodes to watch throughout the rest of the season. The Nick Cannon Show never found its footing and did not perform well. Cannon’s show was the lowest rated single host daytime syndicated show this season averaging around 400,000 viewers an episode.

Debmar-Mercury, the company that produces and distributes The Nick Cannon Show, seemed like they were ready to stick around and help the show reach its full potential. Cannon’s busy schedule could be to blame for the abrupt cancellation. With Cannon going into the new seasons of The Masked Singer and Wild “N Out, the original plan was for the show to take a hiatus for five weeks.

The production crew who works on the show was expected to only get one week worth of pay. An arrangement like that would have surely brought backlash, so The Nick Cannon Show ultimately decided to shut down production with the crew getting a severance package. There was a lot of hype surrounding Cannon coming to daytime television. When his show first premiered it followed The Wendy Williams Show. With Wendy Williams missing in action over the last several months, it could have hurt the ratings for Cannon.

Nick Cannon’s Daytime Talk Show Time Slot

News of The Nick Cannon Show being cancelled comes on the heels of Jennifer Hudson’s new talk show being picked up. With two open time slots on Fox stations, fans will now have Hudson’s new show and Sherri Shepherd’s Sherri, which will replace The Wendy Williams Show.

The game of musical chairs on daytime television is not unheard of. Since Williams went on hiatus from her show, rumors have been flying about who will become the next queen or king of daytime. As Ellen DeGeneres’s long-running talk show is coming to an end, those rumors have gone into overdrive.

Lasting on daytime television is no easy feat. Tyra Banks, Kris Jenner, and Bethenny Frankel all experienced the cut throat world of daytime talk shows. American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson has hit it out of the park since premiering her talk show in 2019. Although it sees huge ratings, even her show is still too early to call about longevity.

Cannon will still have multiple jobs to keep himself busy. The father of seven has his hosting duties on The Masked Singer, his acting, and his music.
