Nick Cannon Jokes About Bagging Mariah Carey’s Grammy in Divorce

Nick Cannon is never running out of jokes when it comes to his baby mamas. The Beat Shazam star has recently cracked a joke regarding his divorce from Mariah Carey, while hosting the show last Monday.
Nick Cannon Jokingly Says He Won Mariah Carey’s Grammy in Divorce
During the September 11 episode of the game show, Cannon took the time to discuss his qualifications as host. Although Cannon could’ve easily talked about his past experience on America’s Got Talent, and The Masked Singer, he decided to make a joke instead.
“I got a Grammy too — but I won it in a divorce. Best New Artist, 1991,” he said. “Joking. Before my lawyer freaks out, I didn’t win nothing in the divorce.”
For those who may not know, Cannon is currently taking over hosting the show in place of Jamie Foxx. Due to the abrupt change, the TV personality had to joke that he’s more than fit to take over his job.
Cannon’s joke, was about his ex-wife, Mariah Carey. The couple tied the knot in April 2008 after six weeks of dating. In April 2011, they welcomed their fraternal twins, son Moroccan and daughter Monroe.
After six years, the pair shocked their fans when they called it quits. The estranged couple reached a divorce settlement and agreed joint custody of their children two years later. Hence, to set the record straight, although obvious, Cannon did not secure any Grammy award because of their divorce.
Over the years, Cannon and Carey have had a pretty much amicable co-parenting dynamics. In 2019, Cannon stated that he and Carey have decided to set aside their egos to put their children first.
He Says She Doesn’t Mind His Having Multiple Children
Although the two have long been separated, Carey, according to Cannon, makes sure to check in on him. During The Jason Lee Show podcast, Cannon claimed that they’ve maintained a civil relationship despite the unpleasant rumors surrounding them.
“She high frequency, man. She always asks me, ‘You aight? You good? How you doing? You handling it all?'” he said. “Like, she lives in her own world, nothing can infiltrate that stuff. When we talk daily, she’s just checking on my spirit.”
Last July, Carey affirmed her nice relations with Cannon. As per the “Obsessed” singer, they have continued to support each other and their children.
“They’re a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn’t be the same person without them,” she said. “I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.”
