Netflix’s ‘Sexy Beasts’ Takes Bizarre Approach to Dating and the Memes Make Themselves

Netflix

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Netflix is about to take dating shows to a whole new level with its bizarre approach to finding love. You’ve heard of The Masked Singer and Love is Blind, but what about a combination of the two? Premiering on July 21, Sexy Beasts is precisely that.

Produced by Lion TV, the streamer has signed on for a two season deal. Yep, you read that correctly, two seasons at least. The UK formatted series will feature singles that have been made unrecognizable by cinema status special FX makeup. The transformed contestants will then embark on a journey to find love based upon personality alone. Each episode will feature a new single, where contestants must choose from three potential love matches. After the “Sexy Beasts” choose one connection to explore, only then will their human form finally be revealed.

A Bizarre approach to the Dating Game

If by now you’re thinking to yourself “I don’t know this seems a little crazy,” I mean, it definitely is. But in today’s society, nothing really surprises me anymore. In 2021 there are more ways than ever before to find love. (Be honest, how many dating profiles do you have set up on your phone right now?) This really is just another new, non-traditional way to spice up a connection.

And yes, I know what you guys are thinking “what if the contestants aren’t attracted to one another after they’re revealed?” Well I can tell you know that based off the trailer, that doesn’t seem to be an issue.

“Making Sexy Beasts for Netflix has been an incredibly exciting process,” Simon Welton, creator and executive producer for Lion TV told Variety. “With an international cast featuring some truly brilliant characters, a host of prosthetics which look extraordinary in 4K and with Rob Delaney narrating, the viewers are in for a real treat. I hope the show puts a smile on peoples’ faces as they play along to discover who’ll fall in love with who, and what our cast all really look like.”

A Social Media Field Day

The show is already cultivating a lot of attention on social media. The twitter universe is especially having a field day with the show’s bizarre concept and the memes are hilarious.

The opinions of potential viewers are certainly mixed, but what do you guys think? Is there a chance that true love can be found on Sexy Beasts? This just may become the new hottest way to meet your dream partner. Anything is possible on a Netflix series.
