World of Wonder confirmed RuPaul Charles’ latest spin-off series RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World on December 21. Since confirmation of this new series, the production company has confirmed both the premiere date, as well as the celebrity guest judges.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World is a United Kingdom based spin-off of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This new series will feature nine of the series alumni, including queens from both the U.S. and U.K. to compete for the title of Ultimate Drag Race Superstar. The nine queens will definitely have high stakes in the international arena. The drag queens for this spin-off series have not been released, but the nine queens have been rumored by fans.
The new show on BBC three will be premiering on February 1. This is one of the first series announced for the network’s return to linear television. As of right now, there has been no talk of this series streaming on U.S. television.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World will include the celebrity judging panel of Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton. Guest judges will join the main judges throughout the season.
Celebrity guest judges in the upcoming series include BBC radio one’s Clara Amfo; comedian and This Country star Daisy May Cooper; Bridgerton heart throb Jonathan Bailey; Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall; Spice Girl and The Voice Kids coach Melanie C; and award-winning actress Michelle Keegan.
On top of the guest judges, both Strictly Come Dancing finalist Johannes Radebe and pop culture icon Katie Price will be helping out during challenges.
Celebrity Judges Share Their Involvement In The Series on Social Media
This series brings together nine international queens to compete for one prize. Since the judges were announced, they’ve begun to share their participation in the series on their own individual Instagrams. Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice was one of the first to share this news with her fans. She posted a photo of her with a purple frame that has the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World logo in the top corner.
“I’m ready for this! RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World premieres February 1st on @bbcthree,” she wrote. “It’s basically the Olympics of Drag!”
On top of Mel C, BBC radio one’s Clara Amfo has shared her involvement on social media. Amfo definitely shared more information about the show as a whole, but still left fans dying to know who the cast is.
“START YOUR ENGINES!!! â£â£â£ Giving you bad influence cousin at an 80’s christening party!” Amfo wrote on Instagram. “Beyond delighted to be a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Vs The Woooooorld!👑ðŸ†ðŸ‡¬ðŸ‡§ðŸŒ â£â£This group of queens are fun, familiar and Ru-thless!!!â£â£â£”
World of Wonder, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World Are Sharing Everything Except Their Cast List
World of Wonder and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World have officially shared this announcement on their social media, and fans are eating it up. Even though fans are excited to see the guest judges, they’re still waiting on the drag queen announcement.
“OKAY… CUTE… I LOVE THIS LINE-UP! where are the queens at though,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
Along with the announcement of the judges, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK shared a promotional video. Fans were disappointed to see that the promotional video was strictly text based. Fans of the series shared that they want a “proper promo” in the comments of the advertisement.
Considering BBC Three is making it’s way back on to linear television, I wouldn’t be surprised if their network tactic is to use the unknown to gain more viewers. Even though a rumored cast list has been leaked since their original announcement, people will still tune in to see if the rumored list was right or not.
