Meet Viral TikTok Singer Stela Cole Representing Georgia on ‘American Song Contest’
Stela Cole representing the state of Georgia is among the acts continuing into the semifinal rounds of the American Song Contest competition. Here’s everything you need to know about the “DIY” pop singer.
Stela Cole grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and still sees the state as her home to this day. The 24 year old singer began experimenting with music while in high school due to a soccer injury. The injury left her unable to walk for a year. In turn, she expressed her teenage angst and struggles in deciding her life path through music. She began to write music during this time, but never had formal training. Stela received formal songwriting training when she met her future manager in college.
In 2018 Stela signed to RCA Records before releasing her debut single “You F O.” At the time, Stela was 20 years old and created music described as retro pop. She released one more single and an EP before departing from the label before 2020. Stela has been an independent artist ever since.
Stela Cole Found Fame From TikTok Ahead of American Song Contest
This singer gained her social media following based off of her music-related TikTok posts. In 2020, she gained over a million views on her TikTok song inspired by the nursery rhyme “The Wheels on The Bus.” From there, her album “Woman of the Hour” brought in some of her highest streaming numbers.
Stela’s most streamed single “I Shot Cupid” became popular primarily from TikTok. The day Stela wrote the chorus, she took to the platform to share it. From there, she continued to publish everything related to its creation.
Stela shared her song “DIY” on TikTok. Within the video she explains that the song is about the realization that you’re doing everything for the person you’re dating. The upbeat tune tells the guy to be independent, or do it yourself. The song absolutely blew up on the video sharing app, so Stela revealed that she is performing it nationally on American Song Contest.
Stela’s is clearly a force to reckon with in this competition because of her loyal fan base. They made her song go viral on TikTok ahead of the competition, so I’m sure they are voting in the competition. The pop singer has brought in over 225,000 streams on “DIY” within Spotify and over 17,000 streams on YouTube.
