Indian dance group Unreal Crew is auditioning for Season 17 of America’s Got Talent this week. The group previously won a competition in India called Dance India Dance, and now they’re bringing their talents to the AGT stage.

Unreal Crew Won ‘Dance India Dance’ Season 7

Unreal Crew is a dance group from Jaipur, India, specializing in a form of dance called “Tuttamation,” which is a combination of Tutting and Animation. Six group members competed on Dance India Dance in 2019, although only five are auditioning on AGT.

For those who don’t know, Tutting is a form of dance that involves moving the body into geometric shapes, often by creating 90 degree angles. It gets its name from King Tut, as the visual style is reminiscent of the poses in ancient Egyptian art.

The group won Season 7 of DID in 2019, with Wasim Belim and Altaf Madawat acting as choreographers for the dramatic and mesmerizing performances. The team, which was previously known as Forbidden Crew, has also appeared on Dance Plus 3 and India’s Dancing Superstar.

“We were already celebrities in Rajasthan, because of the shows (competition) that we did over there,” the group shared with Bollywood Life after their win. “Everyone knew our journey and struggle. And everyone who knew our journey cried when we won, because we have been struggling for a long time.”

The Group Has Over 100,000 TikTok Followers

Unreal Crew has an impressive following on social media, where they post dance videos. They have 51,000 followers on Instagram and 142,000 followers on TikTok. However, despite their large following, the group hasn’t posted on TikTok since 2020.

The group is more active on Instagram, where they recently shared their excitement about appearing on America’s Got Talent Season 17. In one post, they wrote that “finally your boys have made it to international stage.”

They also shared that group member Altaf Madawat couldn’t be part of their audition on the show due to visa issues, adding that they hope he can join them later. We’ll find out what the judges think of Unreal Crew when their audition airs this Tuesday night on NBC.
