America’s Got Talent is back with another live show golden buzzer. On Tuesday night, America saw Golden Buzzer recipients Reid Wilson and Learnmore Jonasi, alongside other popular acts like Kelsey Jane, Journeyy, and more. In case you missed it, Dee Dee Simon earned Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer.
Dee Dee Simon Earns Heidi Klum’s Live Show Golden Buzzer
Following last week’s second ever AGT live show golden buzzer, the show returned with another. The episode began with Menudo, followed by Sam Huang, The Reklaws, and more.
Following a backstory about Dee Dee Simon’s job as a prison nurse, she took the stage. This time, the singer returned with a cover of Teddy Swims’ song “Lose Control.” For those who may have missed it, Dee Dee sang “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls for her audition earlier this season.
After the judges all praised Dee Dee’s voice, Heidi Klum got to comment on the singer before hitting the Golden Buzzer.
“I mean Dee Dee, the range, the tone in your voice, you look so stunning tonight, but I feel like something is missing,” she said. “Like a sparkly belt, a sparkly ring, a broach, my stomach is talking to me it’s telling me…”
Dee Dee Simon is now the third Golden Buzzer in the AGT quarterfinals. Her Golden Buzzer comes after Howie Mandel hit the Golden Buzzer for AirFootWorks, and Sofia Vergara hit the Golden Buzzer for Hakuna Matata Acrobatic.
Who is Dee Dee Simon?
Thanks to AGT, Dee Dee Simon is a prison nurse, turned singer. The singer, from Oakland, California, is a registered nurse at San Quentin State Prison since 2005. When she first began at the prison, she sang, but a riot broke out after she finished. Due to this situation, she never sang on the job again, until she was asked to by an inmate, two months before her audition. Aside from that performance, she didn’t tell anyone she was audition for the show. She kept her audition a secret from work, but family knew she was taking the plunge.
Dee Dee’s website doesn’t have any additional information regarding her beginnings in music. It is understood she’s been singing for the majority of her life. In November 2023, Dee Dee was crowned as a Amatuer Night at The Apollo Theater Grand Finalist. The song that earned this recognition was her AGT song, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”
Ahead of her Quarterfinals performance, Dee Dee was on a short, 3 date tour. She performed in Oakland, CA; Houston, TX; Vallejo, Ca. At this time, Dee Dee has two albums Dee Dee Simon (2022) and Ahh Hell Queen Dee (2020). She has released three singles, “The Player,” “I’m With You,” and “Make Me Cheat” in 2024.
