Meet Country Artist Tyler Braden Repping Tennessee on ‘American Song Contest’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Tyler Braden made waves on the third episode of American Song Contest. The country singer easily gained the most applause from the crowd with his original song, “seventeen,” then went on to win the third jury vote. Here’s everything you need to know about this artist.
This singer grew up in Alabama where he was surrounded by music. His entire family sang, including his parents. Music was apart of his childhood not only from his family, but from his involvement in church. While it’s clear his love for the art was always there, he didn’t seriously begin pursuing a career until after high school.
Tyler played in a rock band, covering music by Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin at 19 years old. While this certainly differs from country, he notes that he was surrounded by music of all genres. When not performing, Tyler listened to country music.
This country singer got his big break when his friend pushed him to enter a local contest. He ended up winning first place in the contest and received a trip to Nashville for a recording session. Tyler then moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2016. While in the new city, the singer worked as a firefighter and first responder to make ends meet. While not working at the firehouse, he began co-writing music.
In December 2019, Tyler signed with Warner Music Nashville. Before signing to the record company, Tyler earned more than 20 million streams on Spotify as an independent artist. Since signing to this company, Tyler has released several singles, as well as his debut EP What Do They Know.
Tyler Braden Earns Third Ever American Song Contest Jury Vote
On April 4, Tyler took the American Song Contest stage and sang his original song “seventeen.” This song is filled with emotion and features a traditional country genre sound. Not only was the song great, Tyler put on a great live performance. The prestigious jury chose chose him as the third artist going straight into the semi finals of the competition. There are currently several comments on the performance on YouTube praising Tyler’s voice.
“I actually really liked this. Country usually isn’t my style,” a fan commented on YouTube.
On top of comments like this, many fans have shared that “Seventeen” is currently the best song of it’s genre to date on the series. With a song this strong, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyler continues into the finale.
