“The Masked Singer” Group C Finals Recap: On to the Super Six!
Reading Time: 5 minutes
The Masked Singer season 4 is winding down to its final weeks. Now, it’s the Group C Finals and Thanksgiving Extravaganza! And that means next week is the Super Six Semifinals.
But only two singers from Group C will advance. So who will it be? And which legendary celebrity will be unmasked this week? Jay Pharoah joined the panel for our recap of tonight’s episode of The Masked Singer Group C Finals.
Group C started off the night with a performance of “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5. And this is clearly a talented bunch! They actually sounded great together and I loved hearing Mushroom show off his falsetto again. Now it’s on to the clues and solos!
Who Is The Jellyfish?
Clues: Jellyfish invited someone she’s “thankful for” to give her clues: her sister! Her sister is a calculator with “57714” typed into the display. She’s playing with a fidget spinner and sitting at a desk with a tic-tac-toe board and a nail file. Her sister says they love singing along together to their favorite show, while Jellyfish is shown in a karaoke room. The sister uses a gold stapler. She closes the clues by saying, “you’re #1!” Jellyfish’s game changing clue was a message in a bottle, reading “If you find this, you’ll know I’ve never performed on a stage quite like this before.”
Performance: Jellyfish sang “Don’t Stop Now” by Dua Lipa and where is the nervous singer who took the stage for the Group C Premiere?! She has so much confidence now and was owning that stage. You love to see her growth! She clearly is a talented vocalist too, though I still am not convinced she does it professionally.
Judges’ Guesses: Nicole guessed that Jellyfish is Charli XCX. Guest panelist Jay Pharoah went with Kylie Jenner. Robin was seeing the Kylie connection, but thought it was an athlete. Jenny agreed with that, predicting McKayla Maroney is under the Jellyfish mask.
Who Is The Mushroom?
Clues: Mushroom’s clues are told be a “real life government agent.” He has “no comment” about him, but we see a jug with a hat on it and a doll holding a red flag. Then, he goes “off the record” to say that Mushroom was class president, with a GPA over 4.0. We see his yearbook signing, reading “K.I.T. Have an Awesome Summer! Stay cool!” His friend is then seeing brushing the doll’s hair and there’s a close-up on a bull figurine and a wrestling/boxing ring. Mushroom’s game changing clue is “The name that I go by now was not my name when I first sprouted.”
Performance: “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry is not the first song you would think that Mushroom would sing, but he did a great job here! He has a powerful voice and this really showed off its airiness.
Judges’ Guesses: Robin stuck with his earlier prediction, Jaden Smith. Nicole thought it could be Taye Diggs. Ken went with The Weeknd for his guess.
Who is The Broccoli?
Clues: Broccoli says that ladies love “a frontman!” His “leading ladies” told his clues, claiming he’s the “ringmaster” of their lives. The camera zooms in on a Jason mask. They tell a story that as a kid, Broccoli used to sneak into a local circus, until he got caught. We see a moose and five beetles, then a giant dice. His game changing clue was “Do not put your broccoli in the microwave, which was invented after I was born.”
Performance: Singing “Old Time Rock ‘n Roll,” Broccoli showed off a lot of energy for a seemingly older singer! His dancing was an amazing addition to his usual performances, and his voice was as solid as ever. Broccoli rocked out for sure!
Judges’ Guesses: Guest panelist Jay Pharoah thought Broccoli might be Al Roker. But Ken knows “exactly who this is,” Ringo Starr. Robin predicted it’s Paul Anka, due to his relationship with Frank Sinatra.
SMACKDOWN: Broccoli vs. Mushroom
The Broccoli took his turn first, singing “Take Me Down” by Alabama. He has a classic-sounding voice, and this performance was no different. He even got up close and personal with the Mushroom, trying to intimidate him. But when Mushroom started singing, his vocals shined brighter than ever. He sang “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway and he KILLED it. I honestly think this was one of his best performances yet.
Another Legendary Celebrity Revealed on The Masked Singer Season 4!
And when it came down to it, the Mushroom prevailed in the Smackdown, moving on to the Super Six. That meant it was Broccoli’s turn to “take it off!”
After the judges talked through their first impression guesses and updated predictions, it was finally time! And the Broccoli was revealed to be…
Paul Anka!
Another week, another correct prediction from the judges (Robin this time)! But will they keep their streak going? Don’t miss The Masked Singer next week, when the Super Six take the stage for the Semifinals. And check out our recaps on YouTube to hear us expose the Mushroom’s true identity before then!
