Maddie Poppe Will Be Featured in Two Disney Holiday Specials

Maddie Poppe’s big win on American Idol may have been nearly six months ago, but she’s still making a splash in the media. She just released a new single and music video, and now she’s been tapped to perform in not one but TWO upcoming Disney Parks specials!
NBC may have the Macy’s Parade, but ABC is Disney-owned, and Disney likes to air a lot of specials during the holiday season. And since American Idol is now on the ABC network, it only makes sense that Maddie would be included in some of them for cross-promotional purposes. (After all, Idol did do a “Disney week” this past spring, and I don’t think that was a coincidence considering its new home).
The first special Maddie will be featured in is The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration. The two-hour event will show celebrations in Disney Parks around the world, as well as plenty of musical performances to celebrate the holiday season, including a performance of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from Maddie.
The second will be the annual Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade (which will actually be taped well before Christmas Day itself). In this special, Maddie will sing “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”.
While it would be nice if Maddie were performing one of her own songs, it’s good to see her get more of this kind of exposure. These Disney specials – particularly the Christmas Day one – are watched by millions of viewers, including plenty who don’t watch American Idol and thus probably haven’t heard of Maddie before, so hopefully she can gain some potential new fans out of this.
The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration will air Thursday, November 29 at 9 pm Eastern/Pacific on ABC, and the 2018 Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade will air December 25 at 10 am Eastern/Pacific on ABC.
