Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Welcome First Baby

There’s a new little one in the mix! Over the weekend, Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards and Liverpool soccer player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain welcomed their first child over the weekend. The couple announced the birth on Saturday.
In the joy surrounding the celebration, Edwards took to Instagram to share the first photos of her baby. The post reveals two close up black and white images. At this time, the child’s name and gender is still unknown.
Perrie Edwards is Over the Moon for Her First Born Child
The singer shared the happy news with her 12.8 million Instagram followers. She was greeted with an abundance of congratulations from fans and other celebrities. Of course, her Little Mix bandmates were spotted in the comments section to celebrate the arrival of her first born child.
“I am so proud of you and I love you so much,” Leigh-Anne Pinnock commented. “What an angel.”
Jade Thirlwall also made sure to show some love, stating how proud she was of her. The newfound father made it a point as well to share the good news on social media. On his platform, Oxlade-Chamberlain posted the solo shots of his newborn, as well as the image of him and Edwards holding their child’s foot.
Edwards first announced her pregnancy back in May, once again using social media to express her joy.
“So happy to be on this wild journey with my soulmate. Me + Him = You,” she wrote. “We can’t wait to meet you baby Ox!”
Prior to the birth, Edwards also posed for a series of gorgeous maternity photos. Last week, the singer showed off her baby bump while posing with white silk sheets. She also included photos of her showcasing her belly in a beautiful grass field, as well as a stunning image of her body dripping in gold.
Little Mix on The X Factor
Edwards rose to fame after appearing on The X Factor in 2011. She auditioned as a solo artist, but was soon put together in a group with additional members Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. The all-female band Little Mix was formed, becoming the first group to ever win The X Factor in the show’s eight year history. Even One Direction wasn’t able to snag the win on this series.
With the help from their mentor, Tulisa Contostavlos, the group amassed a strong fanbase. Showcasing excellent vocal harmonies, and strong performances week after week, the girls proved they had what it takes to take over the pop scene.
Since winning the show, Little Mix has gone on to produce chart topping albums and singles. The group’s debut album DNA, spawned two hit singles, the title track and “Wings.”
At the height of the group’s fame, Edwards famously began dating Zayn Malik of One Direction. Interestingly, a year after her and Malik called off their two-year engagement, the singer was first rumored to be dating her now baby’s father, Oxlade-Chamberlain. The couple became Instagram official in February 2017, sealing the deal with a kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower.
