Leah Marlene Writes Song on the Way Back from ‘American Idol’
Leah posted a video from the Dallas airport, sharing that she would be “stranded” there for the next 24 hours. So she sat down in a closed McDonald’s with her guitar (which reflected the golden arches) and “decided to write some music.”
The singer captioned the post, “out here in a DFW McDonald’s tryna make something of myself.” She had posted on Instagram stories that she was happy to see the rain again after being in California, but she quickly changed her mind when it delayed her flight.
“I just wanna make something of myself / You know I’m scared as hell / To dream a dream that won’t come true,” Leah sang while strumming her guitar. “And I’ll keep on stepping out/ But when I dare look down / The ground before me seems to move / No, I don’t want to dream a dream that won’t come true.”

Leah Is on Her Way Home to Normal, Illinois
Leah traveled a little bit differently for her hometown visit to Normal, Illinois, as part of the American Idol Top 3. She got to ride on a private jet for the trip. While home, she returned to her high school and reunited with her music teacher.
The singer also got to spend time with her family and her dogs. The town put on a parade for her, and the mayor announced that it was Leah Marlene Day. She returned to the spot in town where she used to perform music.
Leah eventually shared on her Instagram stories that she wouldn’t have to keep hanging out in the airport, as she got a hotel room and called herself “a very happy girl in a very comfy hotel bed.” Safe travels, Leah!
