Simon Cowell’s longtime partner Lauren Silverman recently opened up about being pregnant with the couple’s son Eric while she was still married to her ex-husband. Although she said she isn’t regretful, she does “wish it had happened a different way.”
Lauren Silverman Talks Being Pregnant with Son Eric
Lauren Silverman and Simon Cowell welcomed their son Eric in February 2014. Silverman recently told the Happy Mum podcast that her pregnancy was difficult, as it led to her divorce from ex-husband Andrew Silverman.
“There are so many emotions that went with that, because it was the end of my marriage, obviously,” Silverman said, according to People. “It was one of the hardest times of my life, because — I don’t want to say regretful, because I don’t regret anything — do I wish it had happened a different way … of course I do.”
Silverman went on to share her belief that “everything happens for a reason,” adding, ” It was just one of those moments where I knew it was right and that was what I wanted and that Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with. And so, however we got there, I just believed that it was meant to be.”
Silverman and her ex-husband (with whom she shares a 20-year-old son named Adam) filed for divorce shortly after news broke of her pregnancy. She shared that the pair is now “many years past that point,” explaining, “My ex and I, we do have a very nice relationship.”

Lauren Silverman also shared that she “didn’t get to experience the joy” of her pregnancy with Eric due to the media attention surrounding her relationship with Simon Cowell and the end of her marriage.
“[I was] in fight or flight mode because there was so much interest in what was happening … I was just trying not to fall apart,” Lauren said. “Everywhere I went … it was just the way that people would look at me. I was on the cover of every magazine and there were news stories about it … it was just awful.”
As for Cowell, Silverman said that becoming a father to Eric “completely changed his life.”
