There have been quite a few reports circulating about which celebrities will be joining Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars later this month. The latest name making the rounds is Anna Delvey, who served time in prison for posing as a German heiress.
Anna Delvey Reportedly Joining DWTS Season 33
Page Six reports that Delvey (whose real name is Anna Sorokin) is set to join the cast of DWTS Season 33 later this month. She was convicted in 2019 for conning people and businesses out of more than $250,000 by pretending to be a German heiress.
Delvey has been under house arrest since 2022, but the terms of her arrest have apparently been relaxed. This reportedly allows her to travel within 70 miles of her home, and she’s apparently been given special permission to travel to Los Angeles, where DWTS is taped.
Additionally, Delvey has reportedly been given a Social Security number and is allowed back on social media. She currently has over a million followers on Instagram. She has also launched a fashion PR agency called the OutLaw Agency.

Fans Are Not Happy About This Casting
Fans on the DWTS subreddit reacted to the latest casting rumor with disappointment, as one user wrote, “Have the producers lost their minds casting a convicted felon, who served prison time for stealing over $250K as a cast member of the new season? How is she a star?”
Another fan in the comments speculated about how Good Morning America might announce her as a contestant, joking, “Can the ankle monitor help her Argentine Tango?” Another user wondered if she would wear the ankle monitor in the ballroom.
Still, some users argued that there have been even more controversial celebrities in the ballroom. Just last season, former NFL player Adrian Peterson competed on the show despite being charged with child abuse in the past.
The Season 33 cast will officially be announced this Wednesday, September 4, on Good Morning America. The new season premieres September 17 on ABC and Disney+.
