Former American Idol contestant Kenedi Anderson recently posted a snippet of a new original song on TikTok, just days after announcing that she had left the show. Fans have speculated that the now-deleted clip was a hint that Kenedi may have signed a record deal.
Kenedi Anderson Teases New Song on TikTok
“Here is the chorus of a song I wrote not too long ago,” Kenedi said at the start of the TikTok video while playing piano. She then launched into the song, showing off the powerhouse voice that earned her a Platinum Ticket on Season 20.
“I need to find / Need to find / Something better than what I had / And with no strings attached,” she sang. “Don’t I deserve that? Something with no strings attached.”
After that brief snippet, Kenedi told fans, “That’s all you get.” It was still plenty for people to speculate about, as The Daily Mail reports that many commenters thought the song might be in reference to Kenedi choosing a record deal over American Idol.
Kenedi ended up deleting the song preview from her TikTok account. In her most recent video, she reacts to fans calling themselves “Kenicats,” sharing her excitement. She also responded to a fan’s comment saying she might start releasing a cover performance every week.
Kenedi Left the Show for ‘Personal Reasons’
After Kenedi’s Top 24 performance aired during Monday night’s new episode of American Idol, host Ryan Seacrest shared the news that the singer had withdrawn from the competition due to “personal reasons.”
After the announcement, Kenedi took to Instagram to share her thoughts. Although she didn’t give much more insight into why she quit, she did write, “This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary.”
The singer’s Kenicats will no doubt be following her social media closely to find out what’s next for her. Maybe we’ll eventually get to hear a full version of the song she teased.
