Ken Jeong joined his The Masked Singer co-star on The Nick Cannon Show today to share the ultimate dad jokes. At the end of the live segment, Jeong, who began his career as a doctor, shared uplifting news following the Covid-19 Omicron surge.

Before getting into the dad joke portion of the series, Cannon shared that the two would being working on The Masked Singer later this week. As fans of the series know, Cannon is the host while Jeong sits on the celebrity panel. Almost every episode, fans hear Jeong call the host “daddy.”

When the two talked about the long running joke (while laughing themselves, of course), Cannon shared that he once told Jeong to “sit his a** down” and it stuck ever since. The origin of the nickname came from the host acting like a father.

Once the joke segment began, Jeong was given the opportunity to share a dad joke of his own. The segment was actually quite disappointing. I thought Cannon and Jeong would be going back and forth with dad jokes, but that wasn’t the case. Since they had been joking and laughing prior to the challenge I thought for sure they would’ve continued, but they quickly moved on after Jeong’s one dad joke: “Which concert costs exactly $0.45? Fifty Cent featuring Nickelback.”

Ken Jeong Shares Medical Point of View on Omicron Surge

On a more serious note, Cannon asked the former physician about his latest predictions for the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the pandemic began, Jeong has been extremely open about his point of view given the knowledge he has from practicing medicine. Prior insight wasn’t super uplifting, but his insight for today was.

“I think that the omicron variant, like in New York I know it has peaked and cases are declining, It looks like it might be starting to peak in L.A. County and I do think optimistically there are brighter times ahead for all of us later on this year,” Jeong said. “We have to be patient, we have to just be positive with each other, let’s support each other, raise each other up because this surge will end. There is, medically speaking, there is good chance that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Now science evolves, science changes, we just need to stay positive and stay focused.”

Even though there’s still loads of uncertainty behind the pandemic, I think people needed to hear we might be near the end.
