As part of Thursday’s tribute special, JoJo Siwa delivered a performance of “Step In Time” from Mary Poppins. Siwa was one of several dancers dressed as chimney sweeps and dancing on a rooftop. Van Dyke famously performed the song in the 1964 film as Bert.
Siwa wrote on Instagram that she was “honored and grateful” to be a part of the special, calling it “one of the highlights of my career.” She included several behind-the-scenes shots of how the performance came together, as well as a group picture featuring Van Dyke himself.
Rita Ora was also among the performers on Thursday’s special. She sang the iconic song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” also from Mary Poppins. For the performance, Ora wore a red suit with a black flower pinned to her lapel. Van Dyke could be seen smiling as he watched.
