During Tuesday’s finale episode, the Top 5 couples performed two dances each — a redemption dance chosen by the judges, and a freestyle dance of their choosing. There were no eliminations in last week’s show, so the scores and votes were carried over and combined with this week’s scores and votes.
For Joey and Jenna’s redemption dance, they performed a Cha Cha to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. The dance earned them a perfect score of 30 out of 30. Later, they performed a freestyle routine inspired by Joey’s love of tennis, set to “Canned Heat” by District 78 featuring Jake Simpson. The dance earned them a score of 29 out of 30. Combined with last week’s scores, they had a total of 117 out of 120.
At the end of the night, hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough announced the results. In fifth place were Danny Amendola and Witney Carson (who scored 110 out of 120), followed by Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold (who scored 112 out of 120) in fourth place. In third place were Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong. This was surprising, since the pair earned two perfect scores in Tuesday’s show, and they had the most points (118 out of 120) when adding up the scores from both weeks.
Then it came down to Joey and Jenna, and Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, who scored 114 out of 120 over both weeks. Ultimately, Ilona and Alan ended up finishing the season in second place, with Joey and Jenna winning the Mirrorball Trophy, which was presented to them by last season’s winners Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy — who happens to be Jenna’s husband, making it a special moment.

The Episode Featured Special Performances
Tuesday’s finale episode featured some special guest performances in addition to the routines performed by the Top 5 couples. In the episode’s opening number, set to “Holiday” by Madonna, the eliminated celebrities from earlier in the season appeared in the ballroom with their partners.
The finale also featured a performance from last season’s Mirrorball winners Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy, who danced an elegant routine to “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan. Before the dance, Gomez said it “symbolizes the ending of my season,” adding, “I will always be there for my Dancing with the Stars family.”
Another highlight of the night came when judge Derek Hough and former pro Mark Ballas stepped into the ballroom to perform a dramatic Argentine Tango to “Libertango” by Tango Bardo. Before the performance, Hough explained they were performing the dance “the way it was originally intended, with two male dancers.”
