Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner Confirm Divorce with Joint Statement

Earlier this week, news broke that Jonas and Turner had been on their way to divorce for quite some time. It was revealed that the couple had been separated for six months, and Jonas had been solely taking care of their daughters for the past three months, even while on tour.

What may have first seemed like a rumor, has now been confirmed by both parties via Instagram. On Sept 6. Jonas and Turner posted a joint statement.

“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

Following the joint statement, TMZ sources shared more information about the split. According to the sources, Jonas allegedly “saw/heard something with Sophie Turner that was the last straw in his decision to file for divorce, and it involves a ring camera.”

The Couple Has a Strong Prenuptial Agreement

On Sept 5. Jonas filed for divorce, asking for joint custody of his children with Turner. For those who may not know, the couple has two daughters together, 3-year-old Willa and a 1-year-old, whose name is not currently public knowledge. Custody agreements should take place in court, where Jonas will be represented by Tiger Woods’ divorce lawyer, Tom Sasser.

At the time of filing, sources claimed that the couple is parting because “She likes to party, he likes to stay at home.” In addition, it was stated that other “lifestyle differences” led to the split.

Ahead of their marriage, both parties signed a strong prenuptial agreement, guaranteeing that they would still maintain their own assets if they were to ever divorce. This means that Jonas will withhold royalties from Jonas Brothers and anything created or earned with DNCE music. Turner will continue to bank her Game of Thrones money as well as any residuals from her acting career. Due to their celebrity status, each individual will keep the rights to their image, likeness, and businesses related to their name.

Their prenuptial agreement also states that any property bought before the marriage will stay in the original owner’s name. Jonas and Turner have homes in L.A. as well as The U.K. They used to have a Miami mansion together, but it recently sold for $15 Million in mid-August. It’s believed that they will split this profit.
