Jimmie Allen, Alexis Talks “Scary” Experience Amid Baby Zara’s RSV Battle
In October 2021, Jimmie Allen and his wife Alexis welcomed their second daughter, Zara James into the world. Apparently, weeks after she was born, Alexis pointed out a noticeable change in Zara’s voice and appearance.
“It just was a little different than a usual cold,” Alexis shared. “I was thinking, ‘This just doesn’t feel right.'”
Her first instinct was to call her husband about her concern, which Jimmie did not neglect. When they went to the hospital, medical professionals told them that it was just common cold that would basically be remedied through “baby cuddles.”
However, such checkup did not ease their daughter’s condition. Out of extreme worry, the two called 911 for help but was simply advised the same as before.
While she tried to calm herself about the situation, Alexis continued to cater her maternal instinct and consulted a pediatrician. There, their baby was diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus otherwise called RSV.
One “scary” experience they had was when they were traveling to see Jimmie’s performance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. According to Alexis, Zara went “completely blue.”
They Are Now Active Advocates of RSV Awareness
A year after the diagnosis, the country gladly updated that Zara is now doing good. Basing on her daughter’s current condition, he said that “you wouldn’t even know” she suffered from RSV.
Candidly talking about the situation, Jimmie admitted he was confused about RSV in the beginning.
“Even when the doctors were telling us what was going on, I still didn’t understand it because they still weren’t speaking in layman’s terms,” he told People.
Today, Jimmie and his wife intends to spread awareness about the illness through their partnership with Knowing RSV. As per the singer, it’s their jobs as parents to share their knowledge to other mothers and fathers.
“If you can be informed and be encouraged to not be afraid of whatever you’re going through and just deal with it, I feel like it makes a big difference,” he said. “That’s one of the reasons why we got on board.”
