This week on American Idol, former contestant Jennifer Hudson is returning to the show as a guest mentor and judge during Disney Night. Ahead of her appearance, Hudson reminisced about her time as a contestant.
Jennifer Hudson Reminisces About American Idol
Jennifer Hudson famously finished in seventh place on Season 3 of American Idol, before going on to have a flourishing career with several accolades, including the coveted EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony).
On Sunday, Hudson took to X (formerly Twitter) to reminisce about her time on Idol back in 2004, writing, “Returning to @AmericanIdol this week has brought back so many feelings!” She included a clip of herself singing “Circle of Life” from The Lion King on the show in honor of Disney Night.
“It was a Disney song that marked a major turning point in the competition for me so this really is a full circle moment!” Hudson wrote. “I cannot wait to watch as these finalists bring us their Disney best. Tune in tomorrow night at 8/7c!”
Hudson will serve as a guest mentor for the Top 9 during Monday’s new Disney-themed show, and she will also sit on the panel alongside regular judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.
