America’s Got Talent has shared an early release audition from next week’s new episode of Season 18, featuring a dance group from Japan called Avantgardey. The judges were impressed by their performance, with Simon Cowell calling it “genius.”
Avantgardey Performs in AGT Early Release
Avantgardey is an all-female dance group from Osaka, Japan. For their AGT audition, they appeared on stage in matching outfits and even sported the same hairstyle. As it turns out, their dance moves were just as in sync as their style.
The group showed off an entertaining routine that had the judges smiling. The audience also clearly loved it, as they could be heard cheering throughout the entire performance. By the end, three of the judges were on their feet.
AGT judge Heidi Klum told the group that she “really saw your Japanese soul” through their performance. Sofia Vergara said it was “beyond anything I expected,” calling the act “something weird that we’ve never seen.”
“That was genius,” Cowell told the group. “I’m really, really, really happy you’ve come all the way from Japan to here, so thank you.”

Season 18 of the Show Kicked Off This Week
Season 18 of America’s Got Talent kicked off earlier this week with the first round of auditions. Notably, the episode ended with a history-making moment, as South Africa’s Mzansi Youth Choir received the very first audience-chosen Golden Buzzer.
It looks like this season will feature seven Golden Buzzers in total. Usually, each of the four judges gets to hit it once, and host Terry Crews also gets to hit it. For the past few years, the show has also featured a group Golden Buzzer.
Still, this season of AGT probably won’t beat Britain’s Got Talent, which had eight Golden Buzzers this year due to some rule-breaking by Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell.
