iTV Renews ‘The Masked Singer UK’ For Two More Seasons
It’s a happy day for fans of The Masked Singer UK. Due to the success of the series on iTV, the network has decided to renew it for two more seasons.
It’s no secret that The Masked Singer formatting has become extremely popular in the United Kingdom. Ratings have only gone up in the past three series of this show. Series one brought in 6.47 million viewers, while series three brought in almost 8 million.
The Masked Singer UK Gets Renewed For Two More Series
The renewed fourth and fifth seasons will follow the previous successful formatting. Fans should expect to once again see an eight-part series aired over the next two years. On top of The Masked Singer UK, spin off series, The Masked Dancer UK has been renewed for another season.
“The Masked Singer has once again established itself as unmissable event television, keeping the nation guessing throughout its glorious eight week run,” iTV Head of Entertainment Commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe, said. “We’re already counting down to see who’s hiding behind those infamous masks in 2023 and look forward to welcoming the series back to iTV and iTV Hub next year.”
The Masked Singer UK‘s first series premiered in January 2020 and quickly became a staple show for the winter season. Since January 2020, this show has premiered in December and once again January. It seems like iTV will also stick to the winter timing for the upcoming two seasons.
The Masked Singer UK has a similar format as all of the shows in the franchise. Celebrities hide behind the mask and perform weekly with celebrity panelists guessing their identity. In the past the panel has consisted of stars like Ken Jeong, Donny Osmond, Sharon Osbourne, and more. The most recent season featured Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross on the panel. This series is hosted by Joel Dommett. Previous winners of the series sit on the panel during the final rounds.
