American Idol fans are hoping to see Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks on the next season of Dancing With The Stars this fall. Could the show have been hinting that he’ll be joining this upcoming season? Here’s what we think.
Will Taylor Hicks be Cast on Dancing With The Stars?
During Monday night’s American Idol episode, the show had both a reunion of Season 5 contestants and a showcase with Dancing With The Stars. Throughout the night, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest made multiple references to Hicks wanting to join Dancing With The Stars.
Fans noticed this, and even commented on it via Reddit. Some even noticed that Hicks walked off stage with the guest DWTS pros.
“Is this all in good fun since Taylor wants to do the show or were they dropping hints that he may be part of the cast next season if not the future?” a Reddit user wrote. “Those of you on this sub who also watch DWTS, who would you see him being paired with of the current pros?”
American Idol fans are rallying behind Hicks in the comments of this thread. Many are saying they wouldn’t be surprised if he was already cast and this was just a way to hint at it.
“I felt like it was very intentional. I bet he’s on DWTS at some point,” another Reddit user commented.
Some other users think the comment was a spur of the moment thing.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an actual spur of the moment thing. It’s possible they’re having trouble filling out the cast and Ryan said ‘you should look at Taylor’ and then he went out there and did what he did and the producer thought it’d be a good idea,” another user commented.
Generally, it seems like American Idol fans would be happy to see Hicks on the next season. There was even further conversation regarding DWTS‘s ongoing popularity, as well as their branches to the Bachelor franchise, which is also on ABC.
Taylor Hicks Wouldn’t be The First American Idol Alumni on the Show
Though Dancing With The Stars has collaborated more with other franchises, there have been a few American Idol alumni on the show. We’ve seen Kellie Pickler, Lauren Alaina, and Jordin Sparks in the ballroom so far.
Of the three contestants, Kellie Pickler went the furthest, winning Season 16. Alaina finished in fourth place of Season 28, while Sparks finished in ninth place of Season 31.
