Is Adele Replacing Katy Perry as a Judge on ‘American Idol’?

Has American Idol found their replacement for Katy Perry on next season’s judging panel? Rumor has it (wink wink) that Adele is in talks to join the show as a judge. However, fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet.
Adele Rumored to Be Joining American Idol
Earlier this week, the British tabloid Heat shared that Adele is interested in joining American Idol as a replacement for Katy Perry, who just finished her final season as a judge. The reason they gave for her interest is that she wants to have another baby, and she doesn’t want to deal with the stress of touring.
“It takes a lot out of her and she’s looking at gigs that would get her the same pay cheque, but with less work involved, as she wants to get pregnant soon,” a source told the outlet. “Her team were still shocked when she said she was interested in doing TV work and that she had her eye on Katy’s spot on American Idol.”
Adele is currently performing a residency in Las Vegas through November of this year. She recently told the crowd at one of her shows, “Once I am done with all my shows, I want to have a baby.” The singer added that she wants to have a girl.
This would be her second child — the first with her husband Rich Paul, a sports agent. Adele already has an 11-year-old son with her ex-husband Simon Konecki.

Should We Believe This Rumor?
This Adele rumor made it to the American Idol Reddit page, where fans shared their thoughts. One user wrote, “As long as she’s completely honest when contestants butcher her songs.” Another remarked that she would be “one of the most qualified vocal judges any talent show has ever had.”
However, fans might want to take this news with a grain of salt. Gossip blogger Perez Hilton recently took to social media to provide some context for the recent rumor. He pointed out that Heat is not necessarily a reliable source of information.
“Plus, also, Adele doesn’t need the money, she doesn’t need the exposure. And she herself has said she’s lazy,” Perez added. “Use your brains. Sorry to burst your bubble. It’s not gonna happen.”
