Fans responded in waves of excitement upon the release of Allen’s new single, “Different Bridges, Same River.” It seems they are also highly anticipating a new album from the artist.
“Just bought my copy! Love the vibe and the message of the song!” one fan commented on Instagram.
Allen’s vocals are exceptional in the entirety of the track, and really coincide with the emotion of his lyrics.
“The water’s deep on both sides, we need each other if we wanna get by. The water’s deep on both sides but we don’t seem to mind. Why are we building different bridges to cross the same river?” The artist sings in the chorus.
“Different Bridges, Same River” is the latest in a series of singles the Idol winner has released this year. In 2021, Allen has also dropped “Safe Harbor,” “Hallelujah! For Now,” and “Don’t Stop Dancing.” His most recent album, 10, was also released in 2019. With that being said, it is easy to see why fans are eager for a larger body of work.
While dropping new music, Allen is also preparing to go on tour. Starting October 11, the artist will showcase his music on stage across Europe and the United States. The first U.S. show begins November 12 in Vienna, VA. Tickets are readily available to purchase through his official website.
The Singer on American Idol
Allen was featured on season eight of American Idol, winning over now acclaimed artist, Adam Lambert. He auditioned for the show in Louisville and sang a rendition of “A Song for You”. After making it through to Hollywood Week, Allen was placed in a group called White Chocolate. Here, they sang “I Want U Back” by The Jackson 5. Following his final performance in front of the judges, it was revealed that he had advanced to the Top 36.
At this stage, Allen performed his version of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” He performed well enough week after week and ultimately received enough votes to land him in the finale. In the final round, he performed memorable renditions of “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers, “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye, and “No Boundaries,” his Idol coronation song.
This single, along with his version of “Heartless” both charted within the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Today, his 2009 hit “Live Like We’re Dying” remains his most popular single on Spotify with 19,679,962 streams.
