Howie Mandel Takes Us Backstage At ‘America’s Got Talent’
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Howie Mandel is the most well-liked of all of the judges on America’s Got Talent and it’s easy to see why. He’s just a lovable, funny guy with severe germ issues. I imagine he’s the most down-to-earth of all of the judges, like everyone’s favorite goofy uncle. In the video above Howie takes us backstage before America’s Got Talent to see what happens behind the scenes.
A show like America’s Got Talent takes hundreds of people to make. You have your production crew, sound, lighting, cameras, booth rats, production office people, talent coordinators, hair and makeup people, grips, electrics, and an army of PAs and interns. All of them working together to put on our favorite talent variety show. As a person who has worked on several film and TV crews I can tell you that if one cog in the machine is off, it can derail the whole thing. So, these folks work loooooong hours to put a show like AGT together. Probably 12-14 hour days. It’s grueling but worth it.
Howie brings us backstage to meet the unsung heroes that work on AGT. One thing I learned from this video is that there is an army of people working to “do up” Tyra. I bet. Howie also said that he was wearing a merkin. If you don’t know what that is, I’m not going to tell you. Look it up. Or better yet, don’t.
