Where The Hell Was ‘American Idol’ Last Night?

So, there I was, nestled into my couch with a refreshing beverage ready to watch American Idol last night. And then 8pm rolled around and Dancing with the Stars: Athletic Edition came on. I was confused because even though we had spoken to American Idol the day before we had no idea that this was happening. What gives?
Well, perhaps ABC decided that American Idol simply was never going to beat The Voice on Monday nights and that they should try their hand at the wildly popular Dancing with the Stars. It paid off for them in the ratings as DWTS edged out The Voice by a slim margin. But if that is the case that ABC doesn’t feel that American Idol can be competitive that is not a good sign for the reboot of the show. This is in spite of the fact that Sunday Idol won the night and is doing better in the ratings.
Of course, those programming decisions had to be made before Idol did better in the ratings on Sunday. I wonder if it will be back both nights next week or if it’s just going to be on Sundays from now on? I also wonder if next season, (if there is a next season), if they are just going to do Sundays and not bother taking on The Voice at all. We shall have to wait and see.
