Hadid may have moved on from her romantic relationship with Malik, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten about her ex and the father of her child. Recently, Malik made his return to the music scene with the release of “Love Like This,” his first solo track in two years.
Hadid took to Instagram to show her support by liking a photo of Malik in front of a piano, shirtless, revealing a massive tattoo of a building on his spine. This simple gesture spoke volumes about the continued connection and support between the two despite their past differences.
In the July 24 snapshot, which the One Direction alum did not caption, the photo left fans wondering if Malik was preparing to release more music soon. In addition to creating music, Malik is also opening himself up to the public after laying low for the past couple of years. Earlier this month, the “Dusk Till Dawn” artist sat down for a rare appearance on Call Her Daddy, his first interview in six years.
“Since I’ve had my daughter, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her,” Malik said.
The singer credited Khai for inspiring him to make the change and when it comes to co-parenting with Hadid, Malik said the exes have a “really good” dynamic.
Fans Hope For a Rekindled Romance
Hadid and Malik’s fans were ecstatic to see the supermodel liking Malik’s recent Instagram post, sparking speculation about a potential reconciliation. The couple’s on-and-off history and their shared experiences as parents have left a glimmer of hope among their admirers. While neither party has confirmed any romantic reunion, the subtle gestures and support they continue to show for each other suggest there might still be a chance.
The pair dated on and off for six years, and in September 2020, they welcomed a daughter together, named Khai. Soon after Khai’s first birthday, Hadid and Malik’s relationship came to an abrupt end following reports of a physical altercation between Malik and Yolanda Hadid, Hadid’s mother.
For context, on Oct. 28, 2021, Malik issued a public statement explaining that he’d had an “argument” with an unnamed member of Hadid’s family. A matter of minutes after his statement went live on his Twitter account, TMZ published reports of an altercation between Malik and Yolanda, including an additional statement from the One Direction star in which he “adamantly” denied “striking Yolanda” and urged her to “reconsider her false allegations.”
Ultimately, they confirmed that Malik had filed a “no contest” plea to four counts of harassment, indicating that he wouldn’t fight the charges in court. After all this was made public, it came as no surprise to hear that Malik and Hadid had decided to end their relationship. Although, in the time since, the exes appear to have maintained a strong co-parenting relationship as they continue to raise Khai.
