Ezra Sosa for 'Dancing With the Stars'

Former Dancing with the Stars troupe member Ezra Sosa had some exciting news to share this week. Sosa will be competing as a pro with a celebrity partner during the upcoming new season of the show. The announcement comes just before the Season 33 cast is officially announced.

Ezra Sosa Joins Dancing with the Stars as a Pro Dancer

For the past few seasons, Sosa has appeared on the show as a dancer, but he has not been officially paired with a celebrity. During Season 32, he stepped in for one episode to dance with celebrity contestant Charity Lawson when her partner, Artem Chigvintsev, tested positive for Covid-19.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Sosa will be competing as a pro, with a celebrity partner, in Season 33 of the show. As of this writing, Sosa’s celebrity partner has yet to be announced, but we’ll find out who it is when the cast is revealed on Good Morning America this Wednesday.

“This first season as a pro isn’t just for me, it’s for all of you who helped me get here,” Sosa wrote in an Instagram post. “Every step I take on that dance floor will be a way of saying thank you for all the love, support, and belief you’ve given me.”

Sosa told GLAAD in an interview that he was “in a state of shock” when he got the call to become a pro this year. He added that joining the show in 2021 was the first time he “truly felt accepted.”

Sosa Talks About How JoJo Siwa Inspired Him

Sosa met JoJo Siwa when she competed on DWTS in Season 30. He ended up joining her tour as a dancer, and the two have become close friends. He told GLAAD that his friendship Siwa inspired him to come out.

“When I first met JoJo Siwa on the show, she knew I was in the closet, she knew I was gay, but she also knew how uncomfortable I was in my own skin,” Sosa shared, adding that his time on tour with her made him more comfortable wearing makeup and traditionally feminine clothes.

Sosa also shared that growing up in Utah, he wasn’t exposed to his Latino culture, but when he moved to Los Angeles, he started taking salsa classes and “understood how amazing it is to be Hispanic, and how much extra rhythm I got in these hips.”
