Ed Sheeran Tries Singing for Cats, but They’re Not Impressed

Ed Sheeran recently stopped by a cat café and tried to serenade the resident kitties with a rendition of his song “Thinking Out Loud.” Unfortunately, most of the cats weren’t interested in hearing the performance.

Ed Sheeran Sings for Cats, They’re Not Impressed

In a clip posted to Instagram this week, Sheeran could be seen sitting next to a group of cats eating from bowls on the floor. It only took one strum on his acoustic guitar for most of the cats to go running. Sheeran made a sad face over the response.

“It was not more successful than the last visit,” Sheeran told the camera, before cutting to a clip from his last cat café adventure in 2014. Only one black and white cat could be seen listening to his performance back then. This time was no different.

Eventually, only one gray cat remained as Sheeran launched into a performance of his song “Thinking Out Loud.” The other cats could be seen in the background, looking less than impressed. The gray cat continued to eat while looking back at Sheeran.

Sheeran’s Fans Got a Kick Out of the Clip

Sheeran’s fans had plenty of funny comments to make about the cat café clip, with one pointing out that initially, the only cat who didn’t seem frightened by Sheeran’s guitar was the ginger one. Maybe it felt a connection to the singer because of his hair color.

“That cat is just there for the food and that’s fine,” another commenter wrote of the gray cat who stuck around. Someone else joked, “They wanted to hear ‘Purrfect’ obviously.” They’re referring to Sheeran’s song “Perfect,” of course.

Sheeran’s visit to the cat café appears to have happened during his recent tour stop in Japan. He’s now gearing up to perform in several other Asian countries — including Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore.
