Xochitl Gomez, Ariana Madix Earn 10s on DWTS Halloween

At the top of the leaderboard Tuesday night were Xochitl Gomez and Ariana Madix, who both earned scores of 37. (Niecy Nash was a guest judge, bringing the total possible score to 40.) First, Xochitl and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy danced a Contemporary routine that earned a 10 from Nash.

Ariana and her partner Pasha Pashkov danced an Argentine Tango to “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, prompting Carrie Ann Inaba to say she has what it takes to win the whole season. Ariana received her first 10 of the season from Bruno Tonioli.

Other impressive performances came from Jason Mraz and Charity Lawson. Jason and his partner Daniella Karagach executed their first lifts of the season in a Contemporary routine, earning a score of 36. Charity and her partner Artem Chigvintsev danced a fun Jive as skeletons, earning a score of 35.

To make things even more interesting this week, the remaining couples hit the dance floor at the same time for a Dance Marathon, performing the Hustle and the Charleston. The judges tapped them out one at a time, until there was only one couple left.

Depending on how long they lasted on the floor, the couples received points to add to their total scores. Barry Williams, Harry Jowsey, and Mauricio Umansky were the first celebrities to be tapped out. At the end, Xochitl and Val ended up winning the marathon, earning five extra points.

The show celebrated with a Carrie-inspired rain of red confetti, but it mostly went on co-host Julianne Hough instead of the winning couple. At least it wasn’t pig’s blood!

Mauricio Umansky, Emma Slater Eliminated

At the end of the night, one couple had to go home. That couple ended up being Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater. During tonight’s episode, they danced the Argentine Tango to “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwelll.

They earned a score of 31 out of 40, which was not the lowest of the night. Alyson Hannigan and Harry Jowsey had lower scores, while Barry Williams was tied with Mauricio. However, America’s vote apparently wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition another week.

The season is half over now, so the remaining eight couples will have to step up their game going forward. Do you agree with this week’s results? Let us know in the comments below.
