Witney Carson Returns to Dancing With The Stars
On Thursday, August 29, Witney Carson’s position as a professional dancer was announced on Good Morning America. The confirmation came during a video message aired on the morning segment.
“Hi, guys, it’s Whitney Carson. I am so excited to announce that I am coming back to Dancing with the Stars for season 33,” she said. “Just you wait until you hear who my partner is. He will sweep you off your feet. We are so ready to get that Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.”
For those who may not know, Carson gained fame in 2012 at 18 years old when she was announced as the runner up of So You Think You Can Dance. Following SYTYCD, Carson appeared as a troupe member on DWTS in 2013 (seasons 16 and 17). She then was promoted to professional dancer in 2014. Her first ever celebrity partner was singer Cody Simpson.
Later, Carson was paired with the show’s now-host, Alfonso Ribeiro. The pair won the season 19 mirrorball. The professional dancer continued appearing on Seasons 20-28. In 2020, she announced that she was expecting her first child. She gave birth to her child in 2021, then returned to the series for Season 30 (2021).
Carson’s most recent partner was Wayne Brady in 2022. Following her season with Brady, she announced her second pregnancy. Last August, she announced that she wouldn’t be returning to Season 33 because she wanted to focus on family.
Fans Predicted Carson’s Return
Eagle eyed Dancing With The Stars fans have been watching Carson to see if she would be returning to the ballroom this season. For those who may not know, during her extended maternity leave, Carson’s family moved from Utah to Florida. Earlier this summer, Carson announced that her family would be moving again.
Although many were sad to see that Carson’s family will remain in Florida, the dancer is clearly ready to take to the ballroom again. Fans quickly noticed Carson’s recent updates regarding to her travel to Los Angeles, and even commented on the fact that Carson shared a meal with Jenna Johnson – Who is also rumored to return this season.
