Simon Cowell is known for launching careers, but he is also known for being brutally honest. This was the case for the group Stephanie’s Child who he gave red buzzers to twice on ‘AGT.’ Little did he know that one of the group members would be headed to the upcoming finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Stephanie’s Child Got into Heated Exchange with Simon Cowell

Stephanie’s Child is a drag queen trio made up of members Jan Sport, Rosé, and Lagoona Bloo. They first performed “Bang Bang” on The Voice finale in 2017 as background singers for contestant Chris Weaver. Midway through the performance, Jessie J appeared and the audience freaked out.

After appearing on The Voice, Stephanie’s Child auditioned for ‘AGT’ in 2019. They once again sang “Bang Bang” and found fans in everyone but Simon Cowell.

Cowell gave them a red buzzer because he “thought the vocals were terrible.” The other three judges disagreed and sent them into the Judge Cuts round.

“They hate me,” Cowell said when he saw Stephanie’s Child strut onto the stage for a second time.

He pointed out that they had gotten a mixed response during their first audition.

“Everyone loved us except you,” Rosé said.

The entertainment mogul stood by his opinion, saying that they “should have had someone else singing the vocals.”

Lagoona was not going to let this remark slide. She pointed out that in past seasons of the show, the judges have said that lipsynching is not a talent.

“Don’t be a hypocrite,” she added.

The Group Got a Second Red Buzzer From Cowell

Stephanie’s Child sang a mashup of Demi Lovato’s “Sorry Not Sorry” and “Confident” in the Judge Cuts. Once they launched into the second song, Cowell hit his red buzzer. He said he thinks that drag queens don’t usually sing for a reason.

“For me, I couldn’t listen to that screaming any longer,” he added.

The group all hilariously agreed that Cowell’s opinion was wrong. Though they did not make it to the Live Shows on ‘AGT,’ they left a huge lasting impression on America.

Rosé is Now Headed to the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Finale

Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race know that Jan went on to compete on Season 12 of the show. She was known as the singing theater queen and her elimination shocked all. She left the show in eighth place.

Jan’s fellow Stephanie’s Child group member Rosé is currently a fan-favorite contestant competing on Season 13. Rosé has been a very consistent performer, using her vocal skills as an edge over her competition. She is also a phenomenal dancer and fashionista.

This 31-year-old queen is originally from Scotland, but has now taken over the New York City drag scene. She has won three maxi challenges on the show and is absolutely hilarious. This is probably why she made it to the final four without ever landing in the bottom two.

Now, fans are sitting with anticipation as Rosé, along with queens Kandy Muse, Gottmik, and Symone, are headed to the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Contestnats will take part in an epic lip-sync smackdown that will determine who walks away with a cash prize of $100,000 and a one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics.
