According to American Idol sources leaking info to TMZ, Bryan has been made an official offer by Disney, (ABC’s parent company), to be a judge on American Idol. No one knows for sure how much the contract is for but it’s assuredly less than what Katy Perry is getting. ABC is reportedly shelling out 25 million for Perry to appear on the show. They are also paying host Ryan Seacrest an additional 15 million. Even for a show as big as American Idol, that’s a lot of money. That’s just for two salaries not counting the production budgets, payroll, and other expenses.
The number that’s been mentioned for the other two judges is 6 million each, which is more money than I’ll ever see in my life but compared to what Katy is making isn’t much. Luke is would be a good get for the show as a country element would add a lot. Just look at what Blake Shelton has done for The Voice. The way Disney may get around it is to offer Luke a separate production deal that would make him a ton of cash but not come out of American Idol‘s budget. I’ve worked with Disney and ABC before and I can tell you that is the kind of wheeling and dealing they do. There has been no confirmation from Bryan yet, which isn’t surprising. You don’t want to count your singing chickens before they hatch.
