Demi Lovato reconnects with their rock roots in the newly released single, “Skin of My Teeth.” After dedicating many years of their life to pop music, they’re venturing back into the rock genre with the upcoming Holy Fvck album release.
Demi Lovato reclaimed their spot in the rock genre with her June 10 release of “Skin Of My Teeth.” The rock focused single features Lovato talking about being alive regardless of their addictions. Within the accompanying music video, the singer returns to her grudge era. Images of her wearing all black, singing into a microphone remind fans of the video of her 2009 release “Don’t Forget.” This is truly the musical return all Lovato fans needed.
As a longtime fan of the singer, I feel completely fulfilled with this release. I always listen to their first two albums on repeat, so it’s great to see them return to the music they want to produce. I cannot wait to hear the rest of this album.
This catchy release has launched Lovato back on the iTunes Charts. “Skin Of My Teeth” is currently sitting at No. 29 on the iTunes Top 100 Songs Chart. I expect it to climb the charts even more in the next few days. “Skin Of My Teeth” is this singer’s first release from their upcoming album, Holy Fvck. In honor of the 16 track album, Lovato has announced a summer tour beginning in Illinois, ending in Texas. Tickets are now on sale for the four month tour.
Demi Lovato Shares The Behind The Scenes of Holy Fvck
To kick off the song’s launch, Lovato performed live The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. While chatting with the late night host, the singer explained that they’re excited for it to drop, but nervous to sing it. They expanded, stating that it’s because of their passion for the single.
“It’s definitely a change of pace for me, but I’m also going back to my roots because that’s what I started singing when I realized my first album and my second album,” they said.
Lovato previously shared that this is their favorite album because it’s the most they’ve felt like themself. After treatments, this singer has taken the leap to create the music they’re passionate about.
“I really want[ed] to do this for myself and I want[ed] to make the best album possible, something that, really represents who I am,” they said. “I think the best way to do that is, and the easiest way to do something the most authentic is to do it clean and sober, so I made this album, clean and sober.”
During the late night show, Lovato revealed that there are three collaborators featured on the album. They’re keeping the singer’s names secret at this time, saying that “fans probably know who two of the three are.”
Even though Lovato is premiering a new sound this summer, they’ve stayed true to their song writing format used on their past albums. They typically write song titles first, then base the song lyrics as the story around the title.
