Darius Rucker Arrested on Minor Drug Misdemeanor

Darius Rucker of Hootie & the Blowfish fame was arrested Thursday on a minor drug misdemeanor in Williamson County, Tennessee. The singer was reportedly released on bond, with his lawyer saying he’s “fully cooperating with authorities.”

According to People, Rucker was arrested Thursday on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of Tennessee’s vehicle registration law. The substance in question was not identified by authorities.
Following his arrest, Rucker was released on $10,500 bond. According to TMZ, the vehicle registration charge is because Rucker let the tags expire on his car. The singer was reportedly brought into custody around 10 a.m. PT and released about an hour later.
“Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” the singer’s attorney told People of his arrest.
Outside of his work with Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker has released eight solo albums. His most recent release is Carolyn’s Boy, which came out last October. The title is a reference to his late mother, who passed away in 1992.
Rucker Has Appeared on a Number of Talent Shows
Rucker has been a guest star on a number of talent shows over the years. He was a Battle Advisor to Blake Shelton’s team in Season 17 of The Voice, and he also performed a duet with American Idol runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson during Season 16.
The singer also took the stage with country trio Chapel Hart on America’s Got Talent in 2022 to perform “Something to Talk About” by Bonnie Raitt. Rucker previously appeared as a guest panelist on The Masked Singer.
In December, Rucker was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. According to the Walk of Fame website, Rucker has the 2,766th star.
