‘Dancing With The Stars’: A Night Of Emotional Performances

Dancing with the Stars Season 29 continued on Monday night with the sixth week of competition. This week, the contestants paid tribute to special people in their lives, as several stars (including Vernon Davis, Jeannie Mai, and Chrishell Stause) teared up talking about their family members.

Voting was once again open during tonight’s show, and at the end of the night, another couple was eliminated. Check out this week’s dances below, and find out who went home this time.

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Watch The Night’s Performances

Johnny Weir & Britt Stewart

Johnny and Britt danced the salsa to “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez. The judges loved Johnny’s costume, but Bruno Tonioli said his style wasn’t “quite right” for the salsa. Carrie Ann Inaba said it wasn’t his best dance, with a “slow start.”

Nev Schulman & Jenna Johnson

Nev and Jenna danced jazz to Marky Mark’s “Good Vibrations.” Bruno said, “I don’t know what it was, but it worked.” Carrie Ann called it “amazing,” pointing out all the jazz steps they included.

Monica Aldama & Val Chmerkovskiy

This pair danced the rumba to “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” by Rod Stewart, as Monica talked about remarrying her ex-husband. Carrie Ann called it “refined” and “sensual.” Derek Hough complimented Monica’s balance.

Skai Jackson & Alan Bersten

Skai and Alan danced the cha-cha to “Say So” by Doja Cat. Derek pointed out that Skai messed up, but praised her for carrying on. Carrie Ann said she was proud of her, saying she “came back stronger than ever.”

Vernon Davis & Peta Murgatroyd

This couple was saved from elimination last week. This week, they danced the cha-cha to “Celebration” by Kool & the Gang, as Vernon remembered his late grandfather. Bruno complimented his timing but questioned his footwork. Carrie Ann said there were a lot of mistakes, but she likes watching him dance.

Nelly & Daniella Karagach

This pair danced the Viennese waltz to “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw. Carrie Ann called it “beautiful” and “elegant.” Derek complimented Nelly’s softness. Bruno called him “charming” and “endearing.”

Jeannie Mai & Brandon Armstrong

This pair danced the rumba to “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree, with Jeannie sharing the story of her family escaping Vietnam. Derek said it was “so good,” but told Jeannie to be aware of her arms. Bruno said it was “right up my alley.” Carrie Ann said she goes “right to the edge” with her dancing.

This week, this pair danced the samba to “Mi Gente” by J Balvin. Bruno called it “solid,” and Carrie Ann called it a “breakthrough” for AJ, adding that his movements can be too small sometimes.

Chrishell Stause & Gleb Savchenko

This pair danced contemporary to “Stars” by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, paying tribute to Chrishell’s late parents, who passed away a year apart. Carrie Ann said she felt the dance’s story. Bruno called it “raw” and “truthful.”

Kaitlyn Bristowe & Artem Chigvintsev

This pair danced the samba to “Sorry” by Justin Bieber. Derek said it was “fantastic” and added that her arms were “perfectly placed.” Bruno called it a “first-class samba,” saying Kaitlyn made it look “elegant.” However, Carrie Ann said she wasn’t “super impressed.”

This pair danced the Viennese waltz to “She’s Always a Woman” by Billy Joel. Bruno said Justina was “on the crest of a wave,” calling her “radiant.” Carrie Ann said she liked how much emotion was in the dance.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results: Which Star Went Home This Week?

After combining the judges’ scores with the audience votes, we learned that the bottom two stars this week were Vernon Davis and Johnny Weir. The judges voted for which couple to save. They chose to save Johnny and Britt, meaning Vernon Davis went home tonight.
