The slate of judges on American Idol has been set for a few months now with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. And, of course, Ryan Seacrest will be back to host the show like in the days of yor. But the show needs some mentors to help guide the young singers on their path. That’s why they are bringing in Nashville country music radio star Bobby Bones to help out.
If you don’t know Bobby Bones you must not be a fan of country music. This guy IS country music radio right now. He’s a relatively young guy but he’s already on a 100 stations nationwide. They want Bobby to help guide the singers with his wide knowledge of the industry. On his website it says,
“Bones is joining the American Idol team this season, working directly with the Top 24 contestants to share his expertise and advice on all areas of being an artist — covering stage presence, dealing with media, posting on social media, remaining focused and being authentic and original.”
On his show he said,
“It’s very exciting for me. I’m nervous that I’m not going to give good advice. I can’t say a lot about what i’m doing but i’ll be working with the Top 24 contestants.”
Recruiting someone from the country world is a really smart move on the part of American Idol. They want to capture that desirable Blake Shelton demographic. That’s also why they hired Luke Bryan. Idol’s parent company Disney didn’t get to be one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world by being stupid.
