In a huge upset, The Comeback Stage winner Lynnea Moorer made it to the Top 11 on The Voice this week! After fans were not so happy with Lynnea joining the broadcast show in the first place, she performed this week and seemingly changed some viewers’ minds to make it through. Her performances of “Wolves” by Selena Gomez and “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys were both standouts in the round. Despite being in the bottom three, Lynnea won the Twitter Instant Save.

But how did she beat SandyRedd and Tyke James? Well, the answer may be very simple!

When The Voice first started the Instant Save on Twitter in Season 5, the new live elimination voting system allowed for a younger audience to be engaged with the show. This is a win for The Voice, which wants to appeal to younger viewers! Even though some viewers were upset because they didn’t have Twitter to vote, the results seemed to turn out about as expected. Generally, the Instant Save doesn’t really change much in that sense. Plus, the Twitter voting gave people an incentive to watch the show live. When it comes to ratings, that is key!

But in this case, Lynnea Moorer’s win was an upset. As has been the case in the past, some artists with following on social fare better in the Instant Save. Lynnea herself has almost 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. That might explain the big win! The Comeback Stage being an digital show might have helped her chances there too. It is interesting though, because she has less Twitter followers than SandyRedd and Tyke, who both went home.

It’s also worth noting that most fans who were vocally upset online were unhappy that SandyRedd didn’t make it through. But SandyRedd only received around 10% of the vote! That is the most surprising to me. SanyRedd is extremely talented and deserved better! Lynnea Moorer, on the other hand, got almost half the vote. Tyke was her only competition, but even he was losing by almost 10% when the results were showing.

After following The Comeback Stage, I am excited to see Lynnea make it past the first elimination. She has come a long way since her Blind Audition! Big shoutout to Kelsea Ballerini for seeing her potential. And now that she’s on Team Kelly, Kelly Clarkson will be a great coach for Lynnea. The two seem to work well together already!

So will Lynnea Moorer make it even further? Will she be able to win the Twitter Instant Save once or even twice more? It’s happened before! She and the rest of the Top 11 will perform again next week on The Voice.
