Christina Aguilera will headline Brighton Pride 2022. The pop diva will take center stage at this year’s celebration on Saturday August 6 with an “exclusive” performance. The pride event will celebrate their 30th anniversary after canceling last year’s pride because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Organizers are excited to welcome Aguilera, noting that the singer has been an LGBTQ+ ally since her decades long career began. Aguilera will perform at the Preston Park Pride festival, the main fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund. The Money raised distributes grants to local projects which benefit the lives of individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.
In 2002 Aguilera won a GLAAD Media Award for her positive portrayal of gay and trans people in her video for “Beautiful.” Aguilera will just be coming off her three-night UK tour before hitting the We Are Fabuloso event. The tour is to promote Aguilera’s latest EP, La Fuerza which came out earlier this year. The “Come on Over” singer continues to revisit her Latin roots during this phase of her music career. The newest EP is Aguilera’s first Spanish-language project since 2000.
Christina Aguilera’s Career Path
Aguilera spotlighted her Ecuadorian lineage during the 2021 People’s Choice Awards. The singer was honored with the first ever People’s Music Icon award. She performed many of her top hits, and even included her Spanish-language single, “Somos Nada.”
La Fuerza is the first of three Spanish- language EP’s that Aguilera will release, which will all form her ninth studio album, Pa Mis Muchachas. Her tenth album will come out later this year as well.
The former The Voice coach’s sudden thrust back into the limelight is not by accident. She parted ways with her manager of 20 years and recently joined Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for management.
