Chris Daughtry Would Love To Come Back To ‘American Idol’

One of the most successful acts to come out of the original American Idol in the Simon Cowell days was Chris Daughtry. Even though he did not win the 5th season of American Idol, (Taylor Hicks took the prize that year), he has still done really well for himself. With a new album out this month, he would still go back to American Idol if they asked him.
I think that’s a great idea. For now, the judge’s panel is locked with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. But maybe when one of them leaves the show or perhaps Chris could come in as a guest mentor and see if he likes the kinder, gentler American Idol. He told USA Today about returning to the show,
“I would welcome that phone call. I missed a lot of the last season, so I’m not sure if I would be speaking out of turn. But I’d like to think that they’re focusing more on the talent aspect of the show, as opposed to the corniness of finding people to make fun of, you know?”
I have to admit that it was shortly after the Chris Daughtry days that I stopped watching the old American Idol. The talent they were getting was not the same and once Simon left it just wasn’t as good. American Idol, I know you are reading this, give Chris a chance.
