Chris Daughtry Confirms Step-Daughter Hannah Price Died by Suicide

Two months after Chris Daughtry’s daughter, Hannah Price, was found dead in her home, the cause of death was determined to be suicide by hanging. The family expressed that Hannah struggled with mental illness and had actively sought treatment in the past.
“Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track,” The Daughtry’s shared. “We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family.”
Within the statement, family members shared that Hannah “was in fear for her life” the morning of her death. Police arrived at Hannah’s home earlier in the day for a wellness check, but left after determining she “was okay.”
Later in the day, Hannah’s boyfriend found her dead. The Fentress County DA, Fentress County Sheriff Office and the Knoxville Medical Examiner’s Office determined her official cause of death was suicide by hanging while under the use of narcotics.

On Nov. 12, Hannah was found dead in her Nashville, TN home. Originally, reports stated that her death was a possible homicide. At the time, her boyfriend, Bobby Jolly was in jail and police did not disclose whether Jolly’s arrest was in relation to Price’s death or not.
During the family’s mourning, multiple news outlets reported that Hannah’s cause of death was homicide. At the time, the District Attorney General stated that it was too early to classify the cause of death given. With rumors swirling Deanna Daughtry took to social media to share that this information was only speculation. The mother expressed her anger for not only having lost her daughter, but having to deal with the rumor.
“The people who loved her are in pain and we are mourning they are not talking to the press, they are not spreading rumors and they sure as hell are not making this about themselves,” Deanna Daughtry wrote. “Everyone please just stop! Let the investigating officers do their jobs and please remember snippets of someone’s life does not define who they really are as a person.”
After Hannah’s sudden death Daughtry (the band) cancelled their upcoming shows. They have since rescheduled into the new year. The American Idol alum and his wife shared loving statements on their social media in regard to their daughter.
