American Idol winner Chayce Beckham impresses in his debut EP, Doin’ It Right. This fan favorite has skyrocketed to fame since winning in 2021 and is about to hit a new high of his career. His new songs are smooth and filled with well-written lyrics.

Chayce Beckham’s Songwriting Shines in His Six Track Debut EP

Beckham’s highly anticipated six track debut EP released on April 15. Each of the six tracks contain beautiful lyrics the highlight not only his vocal talents, but writing abilities. The strength of this album is the storytelling approach. The slow tempo and acoustics highlight his voice and make it easy to imagine the narrative.

By far my favorite song off the EP is “Where The River Goes.” This song has a classic acoustic feel and lyrics talking about living life with the opportunities given. The strong tunes lyrics flow calmly, portraying the positive message to not stress about the journey of life. While this song is a bit slower than his hit “23,” it contains a similar guitar accompaniment.

Parts of this EP differ from the music Beckham has released since winning the competition series. His singles “Can’t Do it Without Me” featuring Lindsay Ell and “Tell Me Twice” contain slight hints of pop music within the country tunes. For the most part, Beckham kept the classic country style for this release.

Most of the songs on this EP contain a smooth, laid back beat, but “Love to Burn” differs. While I wouldn’t say this song has strong hints of pop, it definitely contains a faster tempo than the rest of the tracks on this album. I think this is the song that will blow up off this EP, it’s very catchy.

Doin’ It Right has already broken into the iTunes Country Top 10 albums on the day of its release. This EP is currently sat at No. 7 on the chart. The individual songs have yet to break into the iTunes Top 10 Country songs list at this time.

Chayce Beckham Set to Appear For the Second Time on American Idol Season 20

Beckham returns to the American Idol stage once again on April 17 to perform during the live episode. He will appear alongside Season 17 runner-up Alejandro Aranda and Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. Beckham surprised fans with the announcement of this EP ahead of his second appearance on this season of American Idol.

Beckham first shared the release of this EP on April 7 in a message thanking fans for their consistent support. Within the statement, he shared that created tunes fans can listen to with their windows rolled down. The vibe of this EP is a huge throwback. It’s reminiscent of popular ’90s Country music. Beckham co-wrote four of the six released track, further confirming the talent first seen on the American Idol stage.

He was originally seen as a mentor and performer during Hollywood week. In that episode, he brought his hit single “23” back to the stage once again. Fans cannot wait to see which of these new songs he will perform on Sunday night’s episode.
