Chayce Beckham’s “23” remix is now available. The American Idol winner released the steel mix saying it’s how he always heard the song in his head.
The American Idol champion is giving his fans a last minute Christmas gift. He released the remix to his hit single, “23” currently available across all streaming platforms. The original song was written a year before Beckham appeared on the Idol stage. He wrote the song right before his life altering car accident that made him realize that he needed to stop drinking.
The country crooner is calling this new version the Steel Mix and he thanked Ross Copperman for helping him bring “his vision to life.”

“So excited to release 23 the way I always heard it in my head,” Chayce posted on his Instagram. “Huge thanks to @rosscopperman for bringing my vision to life and being such a joy to work with in the studio.”
“23” is a personal song for Beckham. In the song, he spills out his feelings and thoughts about mistakes he’s made throughout his life. Every time he performed the song, you could see the emotions in his eyes. It is interesting that he is stating that this Steel Mix was always how he heard the song in his head as opposed to the original release.
The “23” remix does have a sense of old country nostalgia when the song first opens. The strings are more highlighted rather than the bass from drums. The sound of nostalgia could be the reason why Beckham always had the remix version as his vision.
The song was written to create a feeling of home. The lyrics describe what home is for Beckham. His vision comes from what originally made him fall in love with country music. The remix is more old school. Seeing as the song is meant to be autobiographical, the feeling from the instruments play a huge part in what he wanted to convey.
