Charity Lawson Remembers Her Time on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Former Bachelorette star Charity Lawson is looking back on her time competing on Dancing with the Stars Season 32. She reflected on her frustration over the judges’ criticism throughout the season, during which she ultimately placed fourth.
Charity Lawson Remembers Dancing with the Stars
Lawson and her fiancé Dotun Olubeko were recently guests on Jason Tartick’s podcast Trading Secrets. During the conversation, Tartick asked Lawson about Dancing with the Stars, pointing out that the judges were “critical, of not your technique but you showing the emotion and the confidence.”
In response, Lawson said that her “eyes are rolling.” She said the judges were “not wrong” with their criticism, adding, “But when it got to the point where I was getting the consistent comment the whole season, I was [like], ‘Literally, what am I doing wrong?’”
Lawson shared that the comments made her feel like the judges weren’t able to see who she was “as a person,” explaining, “They see me as this person who’s always put together and is perfectly poised, and I’m like, ‘But that’s not me.'”
She called her professional partner Artem Chigvintsev “phenomenal,” sharing that there were times during rehearsals where she decided they “should not focus on technique.” Instead, they worked on the areas the judges were talking about.

Which Bachelor Stars Will Join DWTS?
It’s become a bit of a tradition for stars of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars. During her appearance on Trading Secrets, Lawson predicted which Bachelor Nation personalities might be a good fit for the ballroom.
Lawson said that she thought Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner “would’ve been really good and engaging.” (Turner and his chosen love Theresa Nist recently announced their divorce after just 100 days of marriage.) She also predicted that Bachelor star Joey Graziadei “would do really good.”
Other names mentioned by Lawson included Bachelor Season 28 contestant Maria Georgas and Bachelorette Season 21 star Jenn Tran. We’ll have to wait until the Season 33 cast is announced to see if any of Lawson’s predictions come true.
